If you’re a fan of casino gambling, there’s probably no better place to visit than Sands Casino in Bethlehem. It’s been a favorite of locals since it opened in 1952.
Sands is in a fierce battle to get one of three downstate New York gaming licenses. It’s joined about half a dozen other firms that have applied to the state, and it’s a big step for the company.
Location
The Sands Casino is located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. It’s one of the largest casinos in the state and is owned by Las Vegas Sands Corporation.
The casino has 282 hotel rooms, a food casino floor and a retail mall. It also features a health club and spa.
In addition to the casino, the property has a live performance venue. Its entertainment offerings include the Copa Room and the Copacabana Bar, which feature celebrity performers.
In November 2016, Sands announced a $90 million expansion that would add restaurants, slot machines and table games to the casino. The project was expected to open in January 2017.
Restaurants
In addition to a casino that hosts slots, card games and a Bingo parlor, the property also has lounges and restaurants. You can dine at a 1950s-style diner or grab a seat at the prime rib buffet.
Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse has three restaurants at Sands Bethlehem, including a high-end steakhouse and a seafood restaurant that serves New Orleans-inspired cuisine. He also has a gourmet burger joint called Burgers and More by Emeril.
When the casino changes hands to Wind Creek Hospitality, Emeril Lagasse will stay on, too. He’s a close ally with Northampton Community College and has worked with local culinary students to give them opportunities at his restaurants.
The upscale steakhouse features an extensive wine list and traditional American fare. It’s one of the only locations that offers Emeril’s take on both traditional steakhouse fare and Italian-inspired dishes.
Bars

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians affiliate Wind Creek Hospitality, which is in the process of buying the Bethlehem casino, says it’ll keep all of Emeril’s eateries after they change hands. They also plan to stay with Buddy V’s, which is a New Orleans-themed seafood spot.
There are two more restaurants at the casino that feature live music. The Sand Dollar Downtown, which is inside the Plaza Hotel & Casino, offers free entertainment from local bands and national headliners, as well as original handcrafted cocktails and pizza. Guests must be 21 and over to purchase alcohol at this bar.
Rooms
The Sands Casino in Reno, NV is a great place to stay for a night or two. It’s centrally located near Reno Arch and Wingfield Park, and offers free WiFi in all rooms.
